Post and Beam Greenhouse

In the early stages of our developing our farm, we had more energy than cash, and decided to build a greenhouse from timber on the property.

Sawing the Wood

The wood for the greenhouse was harvested on our property and milled with our sawmill.

Post and Beam Joinery

All joints on the greenhouse were mortised into the beams for maximum strength.

Mortise and Tenoned Joints

The upright beams were mortised and tenoned to the horizontal beams.

Erecting the Greenhouse

Corner posts and cross beams erected.

Adding the Rafters

Rafters are added.

Roof and Potting Benches

Finishing touches are added, and a bench with heating elements for seedlings is installed.

In Production

The greenhouse in production the first year.
