Products

The products we have available this summer are shown below with approximate amounts available.  Please do not order quantities greater than the available amounts as we will not be able to deliver.  We will try to keep the inventories updated regularly.  Our products are certified organic and a copy of our certification is provided with each shipment.

We have added several categories to the specifications for each variety:

Size is the approximate size for each bulb.  For our seed garlic we sell only bulbs with cloves that are suitable size that will produce good size plants in the next year, and typical of the grade that we use for our own planting.

Cloves per bulb is approximate as some varieties have different numbers of cloves per bulb, while others are fairly consistent.

Maturity is a relative number expressed in days based on the first variety to mature.  For example our Darcy Russian Red garlic has a "0" maturity date as it is typically the first to mature.  A variety with a maturity date of 10 would typically mature 10 days later than the Darcy Russian Red Variety.  This is useful if you are planning to plant a larger number of garlic plants and wish to stagger the harvest time.  It can be a challenge to harvest 5000 garlic plants by hand based on weather if they all mature at the same time.

Storage is an approximate storage time for bulbs based on our experience and for bulbs stored under proper conditions.  Note that very large bulbs typically have the shortest storage life while small bulbs with tight wrappers usually store the longest.  If you are planning to store garlic from one season to the next, you may want to try several varieties based on this parameter.

The pricing and quantities available for our seed products will be posted on August 1, and orders will be filled on a first come. first serve basis.

Darcy's Russian Red

Although the origin is not precisely known we believe this porcelain garlic to be a Russian Red which was the name when we acquired it.  We started our garlic farm with 10 of these bulbs and it has become one of our favorites.

It is a great west coast producer with very large bulbs; slightly milder but still zesty. Some prefer this for Caesar salads and other recipes requiring raw garlic.

This is a favorite at farmer's markets due to its large size and large cloves.Great for roasting.

Gusto Russian Red Porcelain

Gusto Russian Red originally came from Gabriola Garlic and has become one of our popular varieties. Though bulb size can vary, bulbs up to 2.5 inches in diameter are common.

This garlic is a little on the milder side compared with some of the hard necks, but is still high in flavor. It is very popular for its clove size as several cloves usually provide an ample amount of garlic for a serving.
